Why the lagna anchors the whole chart
The lagna, or ascendant, is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your exact birth moment, and it defines the first house. Every other house is counted from it, so the lagna decides which sign rules which life area for you specifically. Two people born the same day with different birth times can have every planet in the same sign yet completely different charts, because their lagnas assign those planets to different houses.
