Before you start: system requirements
Soul Yatri Jyotish is a native desktop app. Core chart calculations, reports, and the bundled floor-plan scanner can run locally after installation. Sign-in and entitlement, marketplace, real-time consultations, media uploads, opt-in cloud sync, and update checks or downloads use a network connection.
Confirm the supported platform and leave room for the installer, expanded app, local data, and future updates. Installation time and policy prompts vary by device.
- ◆Windows: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The current .exe is about 347 MB and the managed .msi about 418 MB; allow at least 1 GB free for installation, local data, and updates. The per-user installer normally needs no administrator rights, though managed policy may differ.
- ◆macOS: macOS 12 Monterey or newer on Apple Silicon (M1 and later) or Intel 64-bit. Current .dmg files are about 427–443 MB; allow at least 1 GB free.
- ◆Internet: required for the initial download and connected features. Core chart calculations can run without an active connection once installed.
Step 1 — download the right installer
Open the Jyotish download page on the official Soul Yatri site and choose the package for your operating system. In the current v0.11.6 release, the Windows .exe is about 347 MB, the Apple Silicon .dmg about 427 MB, and the Intel .dmg about 443 MB. Release sizes can change, so use the size shown beside the download button as the current reference.
If you are unsure which Mac you have, choose Apple menu → About This Mac. Apple M-series chips use the Apple Silicon build; older Intel chips use the Intel build. Let the download finish before checking its release tag and any checksum or signature published with that release.
Step 2 (Windows) — understand SmartScreen before installing
The current Windows installer does not carry a recognised publisher code-signing certificate. Microsoft SmartScreen may therefore say "Windows protected your PC" or "Unknown publisher" because it cannot establish publisher identity or reputation. That message proves neither that the file is safe nor that it contains malware.
Download only from the official release source. Confirm the expected filename and release tag, keep antivirus and SmartScreen enabled, and compare a SHA-256 checksum or signature if the release publishes one. A matching checksum confirms file identity, not that the software is risk-free.
If no independent verification is available, the file differs from the published value, or policy blocks it, stop. Wait for a signed build or ask your IT administrator to validate and approve the package instead of overriding the protection.

Step 3 (macOS) — understand Gatekeeper before installing
Double-click the downloaded .dmg to mount it, then drag the Soul Yatri Jyotish icon onto the Applications folder shortcut in the window. Eject the disk image when the copy finishes.
The current macOS build is not Apple-notarised. Gatekeeper may therefore report that Apple cannot verify the developer or check the app for malicious software. That message is not a safety guarantee or a malware verdict; it means Apple has not completed its notarisation check for this build.
Confirm the official source and release tag, then compare a checksum or signature when one is published. If the release cannot be independently verified, Gatekeeper blocks it, or a managed-device policy intervenes, do not remove quarantine attributes or override the control. Wait for a notarised build or ask IT to approve it.

What the warnings do — and do not — prove
SmartScreen publisher signing and Apple notarisation are platform trust signals. Their absence explains why the operating system cannot verify this release, but absence alone does not prove that a binary is harmful or harmless.
The in-app updater separately verifies update artifacts against its bundled public key before installation. That control does not notarise the macOS app or give the Windows installer a recognised publisher identity, and update checks and downloads require internet access.
Step 4 — first launch and updates
After a verified, policy-approved installation, the core chart workspace can run locally. Charts and preferences are stored in your local profile by default. Sign-in and entitlement, marketplace, real-time consultations, media uploads, and opt-in cloud sync connect to Soul Yatri services and transmit the data needed for the selected feature.
The updater uses internet access to check for and download a new release, then verifies the update artifact signature before installation. To uninstall on Windows, use "Add or remove programs"; on macOS, remove the app from Applications.

- For this release, SmartScreen cannot verify a recognised publisher identity or sufficient reputation. That is not proof of safety or malware. - Yes — the download page has a dedicated Intel (x64) .dmg alongside the Apple Silicon build. Pick the Intel .dmg on Intel Macs; Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) should use the standard .dmg.
- Will installing collect or upload any of my data?
- Installing alone does not make every workflow cloud-based. Core chart calculations and local saves stay on-device by default. Account, marketplace, real-time consultation, media-upload, opt-in cloud-sync, and update features use the network and transmit the data needed to provide that feature.
